Dr. Orlando Téllez Almenares is a General Surgeon and researcher at the Department of General Surgery of the Provincial Hospital “Saturnino Lora” in Santiago de Cuba. He has also worked as a surgeon in Venezuela, in the states of Sucre and Portuguesa (2018-2019). He graduated with a Gold Degree from the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba in 2016 and was awarded the Scientific Merit Award for his academic and research career. In 2015, he was awarded the “José Antonio Echeverría” Medal by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba for his student career. He also holds the “Forjadores del Futuro” Seal since 2015, the highest award granted by the Technical Youth Brigades to outstanding young people in science and research.

He has presented more than 20 research projects related to medical sciences at national and international conferences. Oesophageal cancer is his most important research topic. He has 9 publications and is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals as a reviewer or editor. He has taught courses related to surgical instruments and bioethics. He has also received several courses and webinars as part of his continuous professional development. He has excellent competence and skills in performing medical practice and surgery.
